Starting this week and continuing for the next 3-4 weeks, hp10k_showcase authors and artists are posting their work at the comm.

The comm has two purposes:

1.) To raise awareness of various issues, from health concerns like breast cancer research to social justice campaigns like gay youth advocacy. Each participant has posted information about their sponsored causes, which can be found in our masterlist.

2.) We wanted to challenge ourselves to write a complete, 10K short story. Any pairings, any rating, so long as it fit in one LJ post and took a crack at the short story genre. Although not a requirement, many of the stories complement awareness issues. We hope these might be of interest to wizard_trauma watchers in particular.

For instance, my story, The Path of Least Resistance (Teddy/Albus, R) deals with substance abuse and grieving after a loved one's death.

pir8fancier's story, Glass Half Full (Ron/Pansy, R) deals with Ron's alcoholism and recovery.

Other themes that stories at the Showcase will address in the coming weeks include: homophobia, the permanent loss of magic, and the existential consequences for a character with the ability to choose who lives or dies in the world around him.
